Where is it legal to have a window film installed?
In Hungary, the application of automotive window films is regulated by law. The film on any glass surface must have the Af certificate issued by the National Transport Authority (Nemzeti Közlekedési Hatóság, NKH) and a quality certificate. The Af certificate number has to be shown on the film - for this, SkyFol has developed the sticker method, meaning that the certificate number is placed between the film and the glass in the form of a self-adhesive sticker. The quality certificate has some requirements regarding its content, as set by the Authority. SkyFol's quality certificate is a document approved by the National Transport Authority. Without the above, the installation of window films is illegal on any glass surface.

Further regulations are related to front side windows and to the windshield. For these windows, the glass with the applied film has to have a visible light transmission of 70%. Since nowadays all glasses are dyed at production, there are very few films which can fulfil the above requirement. It is important to point out that even if a film is certified, this does not mean that it is legal to install it according to the law, as for the certification, measurements are made on undyed glasses. Because of the variety of dyed films, this is indeed the only possible way, but this does not mean that your car will pass the MOT test. SkyFol's range includes a clear safety film, SkyFol S4, and a very light heat protection film, SkyFol NT Pro 90, which pass the test on almost any glass. SkyFol NT 80 is also very light and is certified, but it is not appropriate for all windows. Our partners usually have the equipment used by the Transport Authority, so they can check the visible light transmission value on your car, before installing the window film.
I'd like to get to know SkyFol's automotive window film series
When can it be a problem if the film is darker than allowed, or if it does not have a quality certificate? In case of the MOT test, the car will not pass if the film does not conform to legal regulations. During a roadside check, police officers can take away your automobile registration if you do not have a quality certificate or if the window film is darker than the allowed limit. It is recommended to avoid these issues and to choose the appropriate film and a professional installer who provides a quality certificate for the job. In SkyFol's network of installers, everyone is able to do so.
