There is a wide variety in the prices applied. Application prices recommended by SkyFol can be found here: www.autofolia.eu/hol-foliaztassak/javasolt-kivitelezesi-arak. When you are comparing prices, it is important to be aware of the type of film you are looking at - you should always compare automotive films of the same production technology and performance to each other. Here you can find the automotive window films sold in Hungary in relation to one another. If you get a price which is suspiciously lower than the one indicated, while claiming that the film has the same parameters, you should have some doubts...
Usually it takes 2 to 4 hours for one person to install the film behind the B pillar. The exact time needed depends on the type of the car, the installation technique and the material used. Film application on the front side windows is 1 to 2 hours, while 1.5 to 3 hours on the windshield.
This depends on the film installer. Some work with disassembling, others without it. If one has the appropriate experience, you don't have to be afraid of disassembling. If, however, this is troublesome for you, choose an installer who works with a different technique.
Generally speaking, yes, the majority of installers is not bothered by clients waiting for the job to be done. However, it is recommended to do so in the waiting area, as it is rare that the installer is not made uncomfortable by a client who is chatting all the time, or asks for an explanation for every third step in the process...
SkyFol and its licensed installer provides a 5-year warranty for the film and for its installation. This can be upgraded to Lifetime Warranty by online registration in the case of the CarbonX and BabyGuard series, which means that SkyFol offers replacement warranty for as long as you have the car. The warranty cannot be passed on to a different owner, as it is not sure that the new owner receives the handling information relevant to the warranty.
There are expensive and low quality films with poor anti-scratch coating, or none at all. SkyFol window films all have an industrial anti-scratch coating, therefore moving the windows will not damage the film surface. It is important to note, however, that a felt layer is not installed in certain types of cars by the manufacturers. Our film installers are aware of these models, and they use a self-adhesive felt layer to avoid damages to the window film.
In Hungary, you can apply automotive window films of any darkness on windows behind the B pillar. On window surfaces in front of the B pillar, the light transmission of the film and the glass together has to be 70%. The film must have an Af certificate by the NKH authority, a quality certificate, and an unremovable mark with the Af certificate number.
It is not recommended to try to install the film at home, for several reasons. Firstly, installing an automotive window film is not an easy process, so the result will most probably be quite ugly. Secondly, you cannot get good-quality materials yourself. Thirdly, applying a film without a quality certificate is illegal, which results in an MOT test ordered by a police officer, the film being removed, or both. Cars without the appropriate documents will not pass the MOT test.
Removing the window film requires professional knowledge. You can spare yourself of a lot of trouble if you have your film removed by a professional who has the necessary tools and experience. After film removal, an adhesive layer can remain on the glass, which can be cleaned with the right tools. The rear windshield and the defroster are also to be considered. In some cases (once per 100) it can occur that the defroster is damaged when the film is removed. This is unfortunately due to the ever deteriorating quality of defrosters. The probability of such a problem can be decreased by using a steaming kit, but you can never be 100% safe. You have to be informed of this issue in the workshop, prior to the film removal, but noone can provide a warranty for this technological problem.
Window films filter different sections of electromagnetic radiation, depending on their manufacturing technology. There are films which filter light only, ones that transmit a lot of light but reject a lot of heat in the infrared range, and also ones that filter strongly in both areas. What are the options? Check out our different window film series.
Factory-dyed single pane windows are capable of good filtering in the range of visible light only, while they do not provide any protection in the infrared range, which is responsible for more than half of radiant energy. It is also problematic that these windows are available in only one shade, which usually means a light transmission of 20%. With SkyFol automotive window films, you can filter up to 92% of infrared radiation, and you can have a visible light transmission from completely dark (3%) to invisible (90%). Windows with a film on them filter 99% of UV radiation - factory-dyed films are nowhere close this value.
The advantage of factory-built sunshades is that you can close them when you want to. That's it, however. Sunshades deteriorate visibility, they do not filter efficiently, they are only capable of one level of darkness, and they are three times as expensive as a professional SkyFol heat protection film.
This is primarily for all the men out there. Do you also feel heartbroken when a piece of cloth is flitting in the car window? Or if there is a large sunshade sticking on the window? Here are a few reasons to forget about these techniques.
- Window films have perfect visibility, unlike pieces of cloth.
- Children can look out through the window film without having to twinkle their eyes or being burnt by the sun.
- Window films are capable of efficient filtering in the infrared and UV ranges, therefore protecting your children from these types of radiation.
- ...and last, but not least, your car will be more beautiful.
With metallized automotive window films, this can be an issue. It is, however, important to note that for metallized-dyed window films, a metallic layer of 60% light transmission is applied during the manufacturing process, which is too thin to have an impact on mobile or GPS reception. What can be problematic are purely metallized films, but such products are not part of SkyFol's range, due to the strict limit to reflective films set by Hungarian regulations.
During a roadside check, police officers can confiscate the registration book of cars which have an inappropriate or uncertified film on them, and they can also order an MOT test.
Your can will pass the MOT test if the window film has an Af certificate, a quality certificate document, and a mark between the film and the glass. Moreover, the light transmission of the film has to conform to legal regulations.
SkyFol automotive window films are manufactured using crystal clear polyester and adhesive materials, therefore they do not disturb your visibility. Nevertheless, if you have never had a film on your car windows, we suggest to select a film with at least 15% light transmission to start with, as a higher level of light filtering might be disturbing at night. If you have been driving a car with a window film for some months, you can safely go for 3% as well.
This situation can happen if you buy a used car and the previous owner doesn't give you the quality certificate. If the car has a SkyFol film on it (that is, you can see our brand name on the sticker between the film and the glass), contact our customer service at info@skyfol.com, so we can get back to you in connection with the replacement of the quality certificate document.
Incoming heat has two sources: visible light and infrared radiation. Films which are called heat protective filter the infrared range as well. The level of heat protection primarily depends on the efficiency the film can filter the full range of infrared radiation. With identical light transmission, the film with a better filtering in the whole infrared range will be more heat protective.
It is very important to avoid scratching, scrubbing objects and strong cleaning agents. Of course SkyFol automotive window films have an industrial anti-scratch coating, but they cannot endure tools and materials which scratch or scrub the surface. Use traditional window cleaning agents found at home, and a soft piece of cloth.
No. Dying technologies with inappropriate pigments, with a single layer and with inefficient UV filtering characteristics have a tendency to get purple. Such materials are not present in the SkyFol range.
It is at SkyFol where the strongest warranty of the window film industry was introduced for the first time in Hungary. If you choose a film from the CarbonX or BabyGuard series for your car, we offer a replacement warranty for as long as you have your vehicle.
It is best if you choose an installer who is recommended by a large distributor. It is also recommended to consider how long the workshop has been applying films, how many cars the person has worked on, and also how well-organized the workshop is in general. What is more, SkyFol introduced a system of workshop assessment in 2015, which makes it possible for clients to evaluate the workshop. Points given this way are cumulated and shown beside our partner.
The founders of SkyFol have been distributing window films for more than 30 years, being the first to enter the marker and continuing to develop still. SkyFol automotive window films are manufactured by leading window film producers in the USA and in Israel, and these film series are obtained from the best sources available.
The SkyFol HP / HP PRO automotive window film series contains a thin metallic layer, therefore it is capable of filtering in the infrared range as well. As opposed to this, the NR series filters visible light only. Its third generation dying is one of the most stable one in the industry.
The colour stability of an automotive window film is basically determined by the dying technique, the layers found in the film structure and the quality of the UV filtering particles. It is important to know that as time passes, every deep-dyed automotive window film will fade, but the magnitude of fading is insignificant in the case of quality products. All SkyFol automotive window films are multi-layered, contain inorganic UV filtering particles, and they are manufactured using a third or fourth generation deep-dying technology with UV-resistant pigments.
After the film is installed on your car, SkyFol's licensed installer will fill in and hand over our quality certificate document with a safety hologram. Thanks to its practical size, you can always carry the quality certificate with you.
Skyfol BabyGuard is a premium quality automotive window film with outstanding heat and UV protection while using one of the most durable coloring technologies, therefore it does not show the slightest sign of fading even in 10 years. In the case of glass breakage, Skyfol BabyGuard keeps the glass plate together, preventing shards from causing injury to your kid.
